A Fond Farewell to a Registry Legend

Simon Williams, Isle of Man Director of Civil Aviation:

"The 1st April 2021 saw the last day in the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry office for Mark Manton, our long serving Flight Operations Manager. After 13 years at the Registry, Mark was one of the ‘founding fathers’ of the Registry together with the original Director of Civil Aviation, Brian Johnson.

Mark is one of those exceptional people: ever constant; utterly reliable; consummately professional; humble; diligent; kind; honest; selflessly dedicated; blessed with profound integrity; and someone who we all knew we could always count on. Mark’s personality, professional, pragmatic and open-minded approach has been a great asset to the business aviation industry. His passionate approach to raising standards of safety and regulation, whilst providing the best possible support and excellent customer service, is a lasting legacy.

Mark can be very proud that his efforts have helped the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry to become the second largest private business jet register in Europe, the sixth largest in the world, and the ongoing recipient of multiple international awards. So, it was the day that we all hoped would never come, but we knew would. Mark retires with the heartfelt best wishes of the entire team. His physical presence in this office will be sorely missed, but his extraordinary legacy will remain in perpetuity."
